YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE CHARTS

Here are some ideas for facial contouring. If you have dry to normal skin, creamy products are recommended because they give a more natural look. But for those who have oily and acne-prone skin, you are better off sticking to powders like a bronzer. Remember, a little shading goes a long way and always proof check your masterpiece under natural daylight.

UNDER EYE CIRCLES ARE NOW OPTIONAL
I recommend these 5 steps to get rid of the under eye darkness.
1. Go easy on the eye cream. Your concealer won’t stick if you apply too much cream beforehand. Blot gently the moisturized area  with tissue paper to absorb the excess oil.
2. Pick and choose your concealer. Dark circles under the eyes are usually blue, brown to purple so be sure to get a corrector in peach or pink undertone and definitely not yellow undertone.
3. The texture of the concealer is a personal preference. Some like it creamier or more liquid, and some like ones with added tiny little shimmer. Try it first before you swipe the card.
4. Less is more. Apply concealer only to needed areas usually around the inner corner and under the eyes. I tend to do 1-2 layers with a brush or the fingertip. When you overindulge on the application, it doesn’t look natural and it’ll grease into those unwanted fine lines.
5. Maintenance is key. I prefer not using powder to set the cconcealer unless you have very oily skin because again, it’ll grease and make those fine lines look like wrinkles. Whenever you touch up your lipstick, just check your concealer at the same.

GET SOFTY
It doesn’t matter what trend we gravitate towards to from season to season, the soft smoky look remains as the most modern and versatile makeup style in my opinion (hence my latest Italian Vanity Fair story shown above). So to get the look, get a good brush. I’ve been stocking up on M.A.C. #224 since the beginning of my career because it’s simply my favorite for blending.

MUFE
I decided to swing by Make Up For Ever this afternoon because I’ve been obsessed with their ‘Aqua’ line. The store is located on E. 12th Street near Union Square and Daryl Roth Theatre where the amazing Fuerza Bruta is being held at. Aside from the in-store reno that was happening at full speed, I really enjoyed my shopping experience.
These are the products I picked up and can’t wait to try:
Aqua Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow in Black, Aqua Creamliner in #4 (teal) and in #2 (brown), Aqua Cream in #1 (metallic dark gray) and #13 (shimmery beige), Aqua Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in #14L (shimmery white) and #23L (shimmery champagne), and last but not an aqua, Lip Matifying Cream.

MY WISH LIST

After a long but fun day of shooting, I wondered what to do. Gym? Too tired. Drinks? Same thing. Couching? A waste. Sephora? Sounds good. So up I went to the Sephora store on 5th Avenue and found bunch of amazing products that I want to share with you.

Illamasqua Liquid Metal – To be honest, I never got acquainted with Illamasqua until today. Needless to say, I am very impressed with the brand’s overall quality and its selections especially the Liquid Metal. It’s highly pigmented so you don’t need to use much and the colors are just beautiful. My favorite is Phenomenon.

Nars Duo Cream Eyeshadow – I use Nars all the time. Love the eye creams because they are versatile and easy to use, and add a subtle dewiness. For example, you can smudge it with bit of khol pencil for that soft smoky effect or mix it with a powder-based shadow for long-lasting wear. Unconditional Love is a stunner with its mat pale blue shade combined with a peach beige shimmer.

Benefit ‘That Gal’ Brightening Face Primer – Professionally and even less personally, I am not big on primer. I use it occasionally for shoots under extreme hot/ humid weather or for T.V. commercials because hours tend to be long so the makeup needs to stay longer too. After testing That Gal on my hand, I am digging the smooth texture and the right amount of brightening effect it offers. It can definitely be useful for an instant pick-me-upper. Who’s that 6am call time model sitting in my chair?

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleansing Clothes – This might sound biased but hey, it’s my blog. Philosophy has a special place in my heart. I have pretty much used everything from the creams to the cleansers to the fragrances. These cleansing clothes are much needed in my makeup kit: they are fragrance-free, non-greasy, and tough enough to wipe away mascara but gentle enough for your baby soft skin.

Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Gold Shimmer Dust – This is purely for fun: golden sparkle dust packaged in a classic perfume-like bottle with an atomizer for fine and even spraying. It’s definitely a cute gift idea for my little nieces.

Boscia Illuminizing Black Mask - Yes… black… jet black… elegantly jet black. This mask contains alcium Montmorillonite Clay, Maritime Pine Bark, Witch Hazel and Rosemary Leaf Extract, to name a few, all to purify, detox and brighten the skin. And it peels off easily when dried so it is convenient to use on photo shoots ;-)

ABSTINENCE

Staying away from the sun is your best bet to avoid looking like a piece of leather good. Walking around with an umbrella is a typical habit among Asian woman in Asia. So when I tried using umbrella for New York beautiful sunny weather, I definitely felt moments of awkwardness.

Maybe we can talk about comprise. Doctor D. Schwab Umbrella  Environmental Moisturizer is a happy alternative and by far one of the best sun protections I’ve tried.

p.s. don’t forget to wear hats!
